The main benefits are that it's easy for a newbie to get started, select a template theme and to get the first posts up and published. And when the blog grows and you gain more experience over time, Wordpress will always be there for you. You can always rest assuered that your blog never will out-grow Wordpress. When you get used to Wordpress it's also very easy to change your blog template in case you don't want to stay with K2 in the long run.
