Comply often with web standards

Why often? Because sometimes you should break a rule and surpass the standards if you want your page to be more effective. The standards I’ve been talking about are the set of rules enforced on marketing or developing your website. Examples of these standards are:

HTML compliance - even most browsers are not strict, you should make every page to comply with the HTML version you are using.

Meta Tag compliance - most search engines, crawlers and spiders reject meta tags not in their perfect condition. Rejecting means your site won’t be on their index.

Image Optimization - Images should be optimized accordingly to make it load faster on every type of connection. This includes dial-up connections and internet-on-phone connections which is sometimes slow.

CSS compliance - If you are using cascading style sheets, you should validate every line and comply with the rules.

There are lots of standards to follow like banner sizes, ways how to display a link, hierarchy of links, content management, etc. After you have complied with those in mind, you can tell your clients about it. Clients see these little things most of the time and will trust your professionalism and devotion concerning your business.
